Blowpipe

The Blowpipe is a British-built man-portable surface-to-air missile (MANPADS) that was used by both Britain and Argentina during the Falklands War.

During the Falklands War, the targets were generally fast low-flying aircraft that were using ground cover to conceal their approach. Blowpipe operators typically had around 20 seconds to spot the target, align the unit and fire, a process which one British officer compared to "trying to shoot pheasants with a drainpipe.". Unsurprisingly, the missiles performance during the conflict was unimpressive. The official report by the British government concluded that out 95 missiles fired by British forces, only 9 managed to destroy their targets, and all of these were slow-flying planes and helicopters. Another later report, concluded that only two aircraft were shot down by Blowpipes during the entire conflict, an Argentine Aermacchi MB-339 and a British RAF Harrier GR3.

The Blowpipe is a British surface-to-air missile developed for the British Army and Royal Air Force (RAF). The system was used during the Falklands War and performed well against low-flying aircraft.

Here is some technical information about the Blowpipe:

Length 4 feet 5 inches (1.35 metres)
Diameter 3 inches (0.076 metres)
Wingspan 10½ inches (0.274 metres)
Weight 48 lb (22 kg)
