AGM-45a ShrikeThe AGM-45A is an anti-radiation missile that was developed by the United States Naval Weapons Center beginning in 1958. Powered by a solid-fuel rocket, the missile's purpose is to home-in on and destroy enemy radars. About 18,500 missiles were manufactured between 1963 and 1982 by Texas Instruments and Sperry Rand. In 1982, a number were hastily supplied to the RAF and fitted to their Vulcans by "South African" engineers who had American-sounding accents.
