Sea CatThe Sea Cat is a British surface-to-air missile (SAM) that was fitted to Royal Navy ships. Introduced in 1962, the Sea Cat was world's first operational point-defence missile system. The Sea Cat however was manually guided and subsonic, and as a result was obsolete by the time of the Falklands War. Nevertheless, the system was still in use, in many cases as the only anti-aircraft defence, on board many Royal Navy ships during the Falklands War. During the war, unlike more modern systems such as the Sea Dart or Sea Wolf, the Sea Cat generally performed reliably, rarely misfiring or failing to respond. However, despite this, the Sea Cat is only credited with one confirmed kill, an Argentine Dagger on May 21st, 1982. ![]() Here is some technical information about the Sea Cat:
