Lockheed C-130 Hercules

The Lockheed C-130 Hercules is four-engine turboprop cargo aircraft that was originally developed for the US Air Force, but which serves with more than 40 nations.

C-130 Hercules

During the Falklands War, Argentina used their C-130s in their primary role, as transports, as well as KC-130s as tankers, but also used the plane as an improvised reconnaissance and bomber aircraft.

Britain also used C-130s during the Falklands War, although in the British case, they were used only as transports. Among other missions, British C-130s dropped supplies by parachute to their forces in the Falklands. Additionally, Lieutenant-Colonel David Chandler (the replacement commander of 2 Para after Lieutenant-Colonel Jones was killed in the Battle of Goose Green), was flown to the Falklands by a C-130 on a supply drop. Chaundler jumped into the sea and was picked up by a British helicopter.
